Hello
I’m Monica — artist and founder of Monicartist.
My art began in logic, in labs and lecture halls, but it survived in flowers and human expression. After workplace trauma shifted my health and identity, painting became my breath and my safe place.
I paint realistic and expressive florals as symbols of resilience and calm — and I paint the female figure as a celebration of life energy, emotion, and freedom. Through her form, I explore emotional expression words sometimes fail to hold.
Healing is now my medium, expression is my voice, and peace is the feeling I hope my work brings to you.

My Story
From engineering equations to painted emotion — from breakdown to bloom.
For most of my life, I lived in structure: studying engineering, working in science, building in research and forging an identity grounded in precision, achievements, and certainty. But trauma doesn’t care about titles.
A toxic workplace pushed my nervous system into fight-or-flight and my body into chronic pain. Anxiety, PTSD, fibromyalgia, and other invisible illnesses reshaped what success once meant. When logic stopped protecting me, art began restoring me.
Painting became my sanctuary.
Flowers became my teachers — soft, wild, resilient. Through them, I rebuild peace petal by petal, breath by breath. When I paint, I return to the child my mother once protected — safe, loved, and creatively free.
Then came her. The female figure entered my work as the embodiment of life-force and emotional expression. Through her form, posture, and presence, I express emotion without words — boldly, softly, theatrically, truthfully. She represents what cannot be measured: expressive energy, emotion, freedom, life-energy.
My studio, Monicartist (Monicartist Art & healing Studio), was born from this transformation — a space where creativity, healing, and expression converge.
My artistic journey gained recognition beyond the canvas by starting to enter the art world in Summer (January) 2025, when my work was accepted for the Summer Showcase at Studio on Brunswick — a moment that marked my painting journey with intention and presence. That acceptance sparked a powerful year of momentum, beginning with a group exhibition at The Loft Gallery, followed by another group exhibition at Studio on Brunswick, Brisbane. Soon after, my work was honored as a finalist in the prestigious Doyles Art Prize 2025, and then the Noosa Portrait Art Prize 2025, and the Brisbane Rotary Art Show 2025. My 2025 exhibition journey continued with a group exhibition at KayWest Studios, and later, the Recovered Future Exhibition 2025, shaping both a growing exhibition archive and the future direction of my work.
And because healing shouldn’t stay still on a wall, I created the Monicartist Healing Meditations app — a digital space where collectors, thinkers, dreamers and feelers can access calm, nervous-system relief, and grounding whenever they need it.
My work brings collectors:
-
Resilience that softens a space
-
Calm that feels like shallow ocean water at your feet
-
Emotional release carried through blooms and form
-
Life energy expressed through feminine figures
-
A reminder that feeling deeply is not a flaw — it’s art
My mission now is simple:
To create art that lets people exhale.
To express emotion that makes others feel less alone.
To paint blooms and figures that reclaim feeling, energy, and peace.
If you found me, it wasn’t by accident.
You were always meant to land here — in the petals, in the feelings, in the quiet strength of bloom, and in being seen through shared experience.
